چکیده

Stochastic Resonance in a coupled FitzHugh-Nagumo equation is investigated. The optimal noise intensity and the optimal input frequency, which maximize the signal to noise ratio of the output signal, are studied numerically, and their dependence on system parameters and connection coe cients is examined. It is found that a network composed of six elements can separate a superimposed periodic pulse train by controlling the noise intensity.

Delay-induced multiple stochastic resonances on scale-free neuronal networks.

We study the effects of periodic subthreshold pacemaker activity and time-delayed coupling on stochastic resonance over scale-free neuronal networks. As the two extreme options, we introduce the pacemaker, respectively, to the neuron with the highest degree and to one of the neurons with the lowest degree within the network, but we also consider the case when all neurons are exposed to the peri...

Stochastic Resonance and Optimal Detection of Pulse Trains by Threshold Devices

Chapeau-Blondeau, François, Stochastic Resonance and Optimal Detection of Pulse Trains by Threshold Devices, Digital Signal Processing 9 (1999), 162–177. The nonlinear detection by a threshold device of a periodic train of soliton-like pulses embedded in arbitrarily distributed white noise is studied. A theoretical model is developed which provides expressions for the signal-to-noise ratio at t...

Emergence of the stochastic resonance in glow discharge plasma

Stochastic resonance (SR) has been studied experimentally in a glow discharge plasma. For the SR phenomena, it is observed that a superimposed subthreshold periodic signal can be recovered via stochastic modulations of the discharge voltage. In the present experiments, induction of SR is quantified using the absolute mean difference (AMD). Comparison of the AMD techniques with respect to cross-...

Effect of number of stimuli and timing of twitch application on variability in interpolated twitch torque.

Application of a supramaximal electrical twitch to the voluntarily contracted muscle is used to assess the level of muscle activation. Large variability in the interpolated twitch torque (ITT) has been observed when repeated stimulations are performed. It is hypothesized that this variability in ITT is caused by the stochastic nature of the timing of twitch application relative to pulses of vol...

Stochastic resonance in a model neuron with reset

The response of a noisy integrate-and-fire neuron with reset to periodic input is investigated. We numerically obtain the first-passage-time density of the pertaining Ornstein–Uhlenbeck process and show how the power spectral density of the resulting spike train can be determined via Fourier transform. The neuron’s output clearly exhibits stochastic resonance.
